Where the VX1000 fails miserably, the VX2000 makes up for. If you set your audio properly, you can easily get crisp pops and snaps. Again, look at good footy to decide for yourself. This means that you can either white balance for cooler or warmer colors without getting to biased either way. They seem to put out more neutral colors and probably read colors much more accurately. The VX2_00s actually have amazing color depth.

But if you know how to WB, you can get some warm vx1k colors. As far as the aforementioned colors, the white balance chip is actually calibrated differently. I personally don't think they are that cool. In my opinion, it really only give style points to those who like the look. It also has this lens shade thing which helps, very minimally, with sun flares and protects the lens. Those vignette haters dont have any vig, even on the computer, with the Mark 2. It has these nasty lens flares and these light rings which are apparent when using on cam lights or pointing directly at a light source. It is not very wide, especially in comparison with the VX1000's lovely MK1. This new death lens makes some people want to kill themselves for dropping so much cake on glass*. Who told those bastages (Watch Johnny Dangerously) that they could change their fisheye. They really didn't have the right to control what their factory puts out. This would have been a problem in any way,shape, or form if the guys at Century didn't take the liberty to redesign a whole new "better" fisheye for the VX2000. The biggest problem was the bayonet mount pattern (and 58mm threads). Skateboard filmers were dissappointed with some aspects, as the colors are cooler, the audio is perceived to not be as good. Now, Sony decided to replace the dear VX1000 with the VX2000. So here is a recap: Great Colors, Great Audio, Best Fisheye, Bad Low Light, Not Very Durable, Cheaper. You may think that you are getting a good deal, but remember to factor in the inevitable repairs that are needed if you are not the first or second owner.
The Viewfinder cable is something that many people have to replace as well. The heads are gonna be old and possibly glitchy. If you buy it, not only will it be hard to find one in minty condition, chances are you will have repairs, even if you baby it.

You really only have two options for good on camera lighting The Bescor 50/100 and the Frezzi (Frezzolini) 75w mini fill. You are limited with lighting options because you always have to use the most powerful. The VX1K/OGMK1 is the most used filming setup in skateboarding, even with the newer models in the VX series. There are a lot of filmers that swear by this camera for those reasons. The lens has a bayonet mount that fits perfectly with the the matching bayo on the actually camera. (Think of a bayonet mount as a puzzle piece combination. Of course the guys at Century Optics made this really expensive combination of metal and glass called the DS-FEWA-00, also known as the death lens, also known as the Mark I (frequently abbreviated as MK1), that fit the bayonet mount of the VX1000. The audio is amazing as well, pops from skateboards peak perfectly and the audio is just so damn crisp. Colors that are achievable with the other cameras in the series, but with a little bit more effort. Skateboard filmers decided to capitalize on it. As a matter of fact, it was in a class of its own. It was unrivaled by any other cameras in its class. When came out in the mid-90s it was rockin' a crazy MSRP of 4000.
This is the first camera of the series, obviously. With that being said I am gonna go ahead and explain some of the differences between these cameras so you guys can make your own educated choices as to which ones to get, if you even decide to set yourself back a grand or two.
